Trips to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center

In February, the KE conducted three trips to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre (PTWRC).

On February 1st, the KE team led teachers and students from New Hope of Cambodian Children, an NGO in Kampong Speu province around PTWRC following their classroom wildlife lessons they had the day prior.

On February 22nd and 24th, the KE team conducted PTWRC trips with teachers and students from primary schools of Chhnok True, Seslab, Chambak Rangsey, Yukunthor, and Punley in Kampong Chhnang. This trip was a follow up as the KE worked with these schools a year ago.

School Lessons

The KE worked in two public schools and a private school in two provinces this month, Battambang and Kampong Chhnang.

On February 18th, the team conducted wildlife and habitat protection lessons at a private school called COERR Language Skill Centre in Battambang in partnership with the U.S. embassy.

On February 20th, the KE conducted teacher training with teachers from five core schools in Boribour district and wildlife lessons with Labeukrangsey primary school’s students.

On February 21st, students of grades 4 – 6 enjoyed lessons on wildlife and habitat conservation.

Summary of Activities

  • Raised awareness on habitat and wildlife conservation with a total of 41 teachers (8 females) and 225 students (114 females) from one English Training Centre in Battambang province and one public school at Boribour district, Kampong Chhnang province:
    • The lesson with 22/11 female, S. embassy students at COERR Language Skill Centre, Battambang province
    • The lesson with 60/27 female students at COERR Language Skill Centre, Battambang province
    • The lesson with 41/8 female teachers at Labeukrangsey Primary School, Boribour district, Kampong Chhnang province
    • The lesson with 56/26 female studnets at Labeukrangsey Primary School, Boribour district, Kampong Chhnang
    • The lesson with 57/36 female students at Labeukrangsey Primary School, Boribour district, Kampong Chhnang province
    • The lesson with 30/14 female students at Labeukrangsey Primary School, Boribour district, Kampong Chhnang province
  • Conducted three trips to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Recue Center (PTWRC) with a total of 191 teachers and students from different area in Cambodia.
