COVID-19 changed our lives, what about hers?

Meet You-bee, a Critically Endangered black-shanked douc langur orphaned by Asia’s rampant illegal wildlife trade and rescued by Wildlife Alliance at just 6 weeks old. Like any newborn, You-bee needed round-the-clock food and care and she is still nurtured every day by our dedicated team at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre. You-bee is just one of more than 1,500 newly rescued animals that arrived in the first 9 months of 2020 – more than in all of 2019.
COVID-19 changed human life as we know it and decimated funds to care for You-bee and other rescued wildlife. When the pandemic stopped international travel, it wiped out $200,000/year in income from our Behind the Scenes tours of the Centre. Meanwhile, numbers of animals in need have risen due to successful large busts and a recent illegal zoo closure. We rehabilitate and release whenever possible, but You-bee, and others tamed or maimed prior to rescue, will require lifetime care. Your support is critical.
Can you #StandByWildlife with us this giving season? Our goal is to raise $150,000 for Wildlife Rescue and Care by January 31, 2021. With your help, we can continue to care for Cambodia’s rescued wildlife and save even more lives.
