Hog badger are terrestrial omnivores restricted to South East Asia and whose populations have declined due to extensive snaring for the wild meat trade. As such they are listed as Vulnerable, and threatened with extinction, by the IUCN. The lowland forests of Koh Kong, from where this individual was recorded by camera-trap, supports perhaps the most significant population of hog badger in Cambodia. Wildlife Alliance rangers patrol the landscape 24/7 to remove threats, such as snares, to hog badger and other threatened species characteristic to the landscape.
