National Campaign
Wildlife Alliance, in partnership with the Cambodian Department of Forestry and Wildlife, conducts a national awareness campaign in Cambodia aimed at reducing demand for wildlife products and educating the public on current laws to protect wildlife.
Since the campaign's launch in 2001, the Cambodian government has passed three new wildlife laws and there has been a marked increase in locals returning captive wildlife and providing wildlife crime tips to law enforcement officials. To date, the campaign has produced and aired television documentaries and drama series, erected permanent conservation billboards, conducted workshops in over 86 villages, and distributed thousands of brochures in restaurants and other key availability areas.
In addition, Wildlife Alliance operates an education team which is sent to villages in the South West Elephant Cooridor (SWEC) in order to educate people on the importance of biodiversity conservation, new forestry law, eco-tourism potential, the operation of DFW-Wildlife Alliance patrol units, and Wildlife Alliance's community outreach projects.
