Help Us Stop a Titanium Mine
Wildlife Alliance 2010 Year End Campaign
Wildlife Alliance invites you to join us as we raise $30,000 by December 31, 2010 to stop a proposed titanium mine in the Cardamom Mountains. By donating to Widlife Alliance you are enabling us to fight this threat. Our work involves collaborating with Cambodian communities and governments to preserve and protect one of Southeast Asia’s largest remaining rainforests.
This mine will have devastating effects on not only the wildlife in the region, but also the families living in and around the forest as well as the surrounding communities that depend on this watershed. If we do not take action, entire ecosystems will be destroyed.
The Cardamom Mountain region is increasingly recognized as a leader in conservation and community-based sustainable economic development. Lonely Planet calls the Cardamoms one of the “Top Ten Regions for 2010”, making it an ideal area for further ecotourism investment.
However, the development of the titanium mine threatens to destroy the community of Chi Phat as well as the long-term economic viability of this region for a short term gain.
Your petitions and letters have already alerted the Cambodian government and the private investors that friends around the globe are dedicated to saving Cambodia’s forests, wildlife and communities. Now, your financial support is needed to protect the Cardamoms, provide sustainable livelihoods, and enable us to work behind the scenes to halt the mine and preserve this landscape.
We need your support to protect this vital region and the thousands of families, animals, and surrounding communities who depend on it. Please join us by making a donation today!
