Meet Roly Poly: A Rescued Sunda pangolin

The Sunda pangolin is an amazing animal - a scaly mammal that eats ants and termites, hides in dense forest, and rolls into a tiny ball when scared.

Chhouk with new prosthetic foot featured on worldwide media

Rescued elephant Chhouk has always been a media darling. On July 29, 2011 he reached a new audience with a high profile video of him enjoying his new prosthetic foot, with a feature on the Huffington Post and prospectively throughout the world on American broadcast TV. Chhouk Gets Feisty

Chhouk, the baby male elephant rescued and fitted with a prosthetic foot at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center is growing larger and more aggressive. He whacked his keeper, Sarim, again and then ran off. It took the rest of the afternoon to catch the little Chhouk again. Keepers have been told to be careful and not to take risks. We are working on building him a new enclosure to enable the keepers can safely handle him.

Letter from Nick Marx

A letter from wildlife rescue director Nick Marx in response to an email from a concerned visitor about Chhouk and Lucky’s extracurricular dancing sessions at Phnom Tamao Rescue Center.

Thank you for your email concerning Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center. Your email raises several points. I run Wildlife Alliance Wildlife Rescue and Care programmes in Cambodia and have been working for the organisation in Cambodia for the past 9 years. We have achieved great success, both in addressing the illegal wildlife trade and improving the situation for the animals at PTWRC.
